After conducting trials all over Pakistan, the Lahore Qalandars Player Development Program tournament kick-started from Muzaffarabad Cricket Stadium. On the first day of the tournament, Gilgit Qalandars faced Kashmir Qalandars where Kashmir emerged victorious. The man of the match award was won by M. Zubair who scored 29 off 24 and took 1 wicket leading the team to victory.
The second match was played between Pardesi Qalandars and KP Qalandars in which KP gave a tough time to Pardesis and won the match. The man of the match award was won by Sajjad Hussain who scored a brilliant 83 off 62 balls.
PM AJK Raja Farooq Haider was also present at the opening ceremony and expressed his delight on the turnout of people. He said, “I appreciate the efforts Qalandars are putting in for the revival of cricket in Pakistan. Such events are a breath of fresh air for Kashmiris and a chance for them to showcase their talent. ”
Cricket legends including Shoaib Akhtar, M. Yousuf and Aqib Javed were also present and were delighted to see the turnout.
The next match will be played between Pardesi Qalandars and Gilgit Qalandars tomorrow.
