DUBAI February 25: An absorbing contest is on the cards as Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators seek a finish in the top two in their last group game today at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2017 is heading towards a gripping finale as the two teams with play-off berths sealed clash in the night game.
Gladiators who lost to Islamabad United on the last ball of the match Friday night have a total of nine points from seven games while Zalmi who scored a comfortable win over Lahore Qalandars have gathered seven points from as many games.
A win would give Gladiators a confirmed spot among the top two teams in the play-offs line-up conversely Zalmi too would confirm their top two spot by winning the contest today.
The top two teams in the play-offs get an extra opportunity of qualifying for the final even if they lose the first qualifier, the bottom two play-off teams play an eliminator and can crash out of the event if they lose the eliminator tie.
Both Gladiators and Zalmi have a strong fan base in the region and a big crowd full of passionate supporters is expected for the night clash.
The two teams had their first match of the HBL PSL 2017 season washed out at the Sharjah Stadium last Friday. In the opening season the two competed in arguably the most exciting game of the season when Gladiators won the First Qualifier in the play-offs on the last ball of the match at Dubai.
